‘Designated Survivor’ ep. 15 recap “One Hundred Days”

“One Hundred Days” (Season-1;Episode-15;aired-04/05/17)

POTUS

POTUS give a speech to the American people and asks that since he didn’t have a traditional ‘100 days’, that his 100 days start now. People are excited at the progress.

While giving a speech to a woman’s group, FLOTUS takes on the subject of gun control during the Q&A session. She does a good job, however, her stance and POTUS’ stance vary, which ends up causing a conflict.

However, Jack Bowman (R-MT) has other motives. He’s a newcomer gun enthusiast who is ambitious for upward movement within the government for himself. Bowman criticizes her on national TV and a POTUS thinks it would be best if she walks back her comments.

At Emily’s suggestion, POTUS goes to a town hall meeting after being coached on how to be more personal and less professorial. He ends up talking about gun control.

Senator Bowman later pushes a weak, poorly worded bill to make Kirkman either goes along with it knowing it’s flawed, or reject it and appear to backtrack on his promise.

Methinks Bowman is going to be a pain for the president. The real question is, whether he’s doing that just because he’s a jerk-wad or because he’s part of the “bigger” problem that is trying to bring down the government.

Hannah & Atwood

Hannah and team are on the hunt for Claudine. She’s almost like a ghost; hardly any photographs and no hits on facial recognition in any law enforcement database.

Turns out Langdon took a photo of her, and it’s not so much her but her fingerprints on a wine glass in the photo. The experts do their thing and it turns out our French-named mystery woman is really Brooke Matheson. Five years ago she seemingly ‘disappeared’ and her fake identity appeared. Turns out the defense contractor she worked for is still paying rent on a closed factory.

Hannah and Atwood go there and find it mostly empty, except for there’s a screen shot of Hannah on the security monitor. Brooke sneaks up on them, a fight ensues and Hannah takes her down. Atwood comes in and wants to kill her since she’s responsible for his son’s death. Hannah talks him down, but then Brooke makes a last-minute move to grab a gun and Jason shoots her dead.

They then dig around and find more schematics that detail the destruction of the Golden Gate Bridge, Hoover Dam, and the Statue of Liberty.

Turns out the capitol building was just the beginning of something much bigger.

Aaron

And my wondering about how long Aaron might be gone is answered. Aaron is down but not out and decides to go jogging. While jogging, he gets a mysterious phone call in Spanish. Turns out it’s his cousin who is in town for an interview with the congresswoman. In talking with her, she reminds him that he always wanted to get out of small town Texas and make a difference.

He realizes she’s right and ends up talking to Hookstraten who offers she’ll do “anything to help”. He later takes her up on it and he offers him a position as the New Chief Strategist.

He later shares this with Emily who finds it a little odd that he’s a Democrat and is very willing to work for Hookstraten, the Republican.

He says it’s a good way to “still serve”.
