“The Blueprint” (Season-1;Episode-9;aired-12/07/16)
“There’s a traitor among us” – Pres. Kirkman
We start with some stereotypical guy in a hurry to get files to a thumb drive and then he leaves the building. It’s the NSA. What? Turns out the guy’s name is Gabriel Thompson and he’s headed to the Venezuelan embassy, which is considered foreign soil, since getting out of the U.S. would be a near impossibility.
Is this guy the mastermind? He then starts dumping information on all previous living members of the President’s cabinet. All, that is, except for Kirkman’s. But that will be forthcoming. Which is why Kirkman agrees to meet with him.
Ah, but it’s not that easy, is it. Turns out that Emily called a living senator a “lecherous old man more into groping than promoting women”. This senator wants Emily fired in turn for him helping Kirkman forming a new Congress.
Emily, honest and cute as a button can be, offers her resignation, but Kirkman is having none of it. He needs her and he knows she’s a good guy. A meeting is arranged between Gabriel and the President, who threatens to release the documents himself. The senator goes away, the documents aren’t released, and Emily gets to keep her job and her crush on Aaron.
Gabriel hands over the drive and before being escorted away (to prison? back to the Venezuelan embassy?) he advises the president to be cautious with who sees file “12-80C”.
Maggie is still trying to prove her bosses innocence and find out why he’s suddenly playing guilty to murdering Nassar. Since her only lead is MacLeish, she goes back in time to those who were serving with him to find out what his story is. As if on script they all say he was a hero which earned him the Bronze Star, which is awarded to members of the armed forces for either heroic/meritorious achievement/service in a combat zone.
Not one to give up, at her last contact’s house, the wife allows her to search through her deceased husband’s items and hits paydirt: proof MacLeish is a war criminal as hit unit killed many innocents and a photo of MacLeish and Catalan together. Catalan is the guy who really killed Nassar. Zoinks!
A sort of “telephone” game starts. Maggie goes to Kimble Hookstraten to say she has information on MacLeish, Kimble then goes to Kirkman asking her to delay MacLeish’s confirmation until her source arrives. Kirkman, not sure whether Kimble is friend or foe, has a little chat with MacLeish if someone might have any dirt on him in the vetting process. He seems surprised. MacLeish is smart. He knows this could come back to bite him so he plants the seeds of doubt and as an aside he mentions that a certain FBI agent might have it in for him, but that she’s unstable.
With files in hand to take-down MacLeish, Hannah calls Kimble and says she’s on her way. As she approaches she’s t-boned by another vehicle.
For next time well see if Hannah is dead (unlikely) or is impeded from making it with her information to the capitol (most likely).
